Replace the system that no longer meets your needs—not the lockers you’ve already invested in.
BlueBox System Swap started with a simple question from customers who came to us looking for help:
“Can we keep our lockers and have you take over?”
These customers had already invested in parcel locker systems from other providers, but the service behind them was no longer meeting their needs. Technical issues went unresolved, maintenance costs continued, and getting reliable support became increasingly difficult.
The alternative—replacing an entire locker installation—could mean walking away from equipment that was still perfectly usable.
We thought there should be another option.
The requests for help came first. Our development work followed.
That’s how BlueBox System Swap began: as a way to help customers move to BlueBox while preserving as much of their existing hardware investment as possible.
Keep the Lockers. Change the System Behind Them.
BlueBox has grown beyond simply selling parcel lockers. As a parcel locker operator and solutions provider, we believe the right solution should be determined by what a customer actually needs—not by what we want to sell them.
With System Swap, that can mean keeping existing locker cabinets while replacing the technology and service behind them.
Backed by our in-house development team, BlueBox can perform System Swaps on most mainstream parcel locker systems, including many white-label and private-label systems.
Locker hardware, communication interfaces and software architecture can vary considerably between manufacturers. Our developers assess the existing equipment and build the integrations needed to connect compatible systems to the BlueBox platform.
Depending on the equipment, this can include locker controls, system status reporting, delivery and pickup workflows, notifications and backend management.
The result is familiar hardware supported by a new technology and service ecosystem.
In-House Development Makes the Difference
Taking over an existing parcel locker system isn’t as simple as installing new software.
Compatibility needs to be understood. Hardware and communication protocols need to work together.
Software needs to be maintained. And when something changes, someone needs to take responsibility for fixing it.
That’s where having our own development team becomes particularly important.
Our developers work directly with our technical support and installation teams to address compatibility issues, software updates and functional requirements. If a problem emerges after the initial integration, the people supporting the system can work directly with the people who developed the solution.
This capability can be especially valuable for white-label and private-label equipment, or systems where manufacturer support is limited or no longer meeting the customer’s needs.
The name on a locker shouldn’t prevent its owner from finding better service.
Our goal is to give customers another option when the physical equipment still has value but the system or support behind it needs to change.
A System Swap Is More Than Software
Changing the technology behind a locker system only solves part of the problem.
If customers still can’t get help when something goes wrong, the reason they wanted to change providers in the first place hasn’t really been addressed.
That’s why BlueBox System Swap includes ongoing customer and technical support.
Our customer support team helps customers through the transition and remains available for everyday operational questions—from notifications and pickup issues to unusual situations that require additional assistance.
Behind them, our technical support team handles troubleshooting, compatibility maintenance, software updates and hardware issues.
Because these functions work alongside our development and installation teams, issues can be coordinated internally rather than leaving property managers to navigate multiple suppliers to determine who is responsible.
When we take over a system, we also take responsibility for supporting its continued operation.
Our supply chain capabilities add another layer of support. When an issue requires replacement components or hardware modifications, our technical and supply chain teams can work together to identify appropriate solutions and carry the support through to the physical equipment.
Keep Your Existing Lockers—and Add More Capacity
Sometimes the existing lockers are still working well—the building has simply outgrown them.
That was the case for one BlueBox System Swap customer. The property needed a new system and better support behind its existing lockers, but there was another challenge: the original locker capacity was no longer enough to accommodate the building’s parcel volume.
Replacing the entire installation wasn’t necessary. Instead, we looked at how we could preserve what the property already had while expanding it.
EXISTING SYSTEM – BEFORE SWAP

ROOM TO EXPAND & ADD ADDITIONAL LOCKERS

EXPANDED SYSTEM – AFTER SWAP

A BlueBox System Swap in action: We preserved the customer’s existing locker investment and sourced additional units that matched the original specifications, allowing the property to increase capacity while maintaining a consistent installation.
Through our established relationships with suppliers and vendors across the Canadian smart locker industry, we were able to source additional locker units that matched the specifications of the building’s existing equipment.
This allowed the property to increase its locker capacity while maintaining a consistent installation, rather than replacing functional equipment or introducing new lockers that didn’t fit with the existing system.
Our in-house development and technical teams then worked to bring the existing and additional equipment into the BlueBox environment, creating a more unified approach to system management and ongoing support.
For us, this project demonstrates an important part of what System Swap is designed to accomplish:
Taking over an existing system shouldn’t mean starting over.
Where equipment compatibility and site conditions allow, BlueBox can work with the lockers already installed, source compatible additional equipment and expand the system around the property’s actual needs.
Our established industry relationships, global supply chain and in-house technical capabilities give us more options when approaching these projects. Rather than limiting a solution to the products we manufacture or sell directly, we can evaluate the existing installation and determine a practical path forward.
For customers, that can mean preserving their original investment, adding the capacity they need and bringing the overall system under one management and support framework.
Use what still works. Improve what doesn’t. Add what’s needed.
Giving Existing Locker Investments a Second Life
As parcel lockers become more widely adopted, the industry is entering a new stage.
Not every customer is looking for their first locker system anymore.
Some already have equipment that may have years of useful life ahead of it but need better technology, more responsive support, additional capacity or greater flexibility.
We believe those customers deserve options.
System Swap represents the same approach that has guided BlueBox from the beginning: understand the customer’s problem first, then determine the right solution.
Sometimes that means installing a new BlueBox system.
Sometimes it means expanding an existing installation.
And sometimes, the best solution is giving the lockers a customer already owns a better system and support team behind them.
Building a Better Long-Term Solution
Customers who come to us for a System Swap have often already experienced the frustration of a system that didn’t meet their expectations.
They aren’t simply looking for another provider. They need a team with the technical ability to understand their existing equipment, the resources to support it and the commitment to remain accountable after the transition is complete.
That responsibility doesn’t end when the System Swap is finished.
As the number and variety of systems we operate grows, we will continue investing in the development, installation, customer support and technical resources needed to support them.
We’ll also continue strengthening our supplier relationships and global supply chain so we can source components, replacement hardware and additional capacity when our customers need them.
Because ultimately, System Swap isn’t about replacing one company’s name with another.
It’s about solving the problem that made the customer look for another provider in the first place.
There are many choices in the market.
BlueBox wants to be the last provider you ever need to choose.
